(Reference based on JIS B1186)
For measurement of screw tightening (accuracy within 5%), the cost is higher since the method used is time consuming and affected by the following factors:
Tensile strength of the screw material
Diameter of the screw
Working length of the screw
Hence the measurement is generally used for precision parts or fasteners with higher safety requirements.
Frictional torque test
(Reference based on ISO 2320)
This is the simplest and most common method of engineering measurement but also the most inaccurate because of the complicated influential factors. However, since the cost is lower, it is adopted by most clients. Since the range of tolerance is greater than 25%, particular attention is required.
 
Loosening torque
(Reference based on IFI125 and IFI525)
 
After covering the screw surface with chemical glue, place the screw for a specified period and loosen the screw when such period expires. The loosening torque can then be measured accordingly.
